who are you and what's the 'koi' deal? is it K.O.I. or the fish?
well, we're a small, hardworking, DIY indie record label based in houston, texas. KOI Records is named after the koi fish and is not K.O.I. we called ourselves koi records because in asian culture the koi symbolizes: perserverance, non-conformity and success in life and that's what we're all about!!
what kind of music do you put out?
that's an easy question to answer; anything we love! when we started koi records we didn't want to commit to just one genre and agreed that we would only release stuff that we totally love ourselves. sure we love punk, hardcore and metal and that's reflected in our releases but we'll never limit koi records to one type of sound. hopefully we'll keep surprising you in the future!
why do you release so much vinyl and not cds? no one buys vinyl any more do they?
haha - we get asked this a lot! we love vinyl, plain and simple. it's a smaller market, but one that is growing all the time! vinyl records are gaining in popularity 'cos we think people are getting tired of the predictable and unimaginative digital formats. records are impressive pieces of artwork! we always put out special limited editions, colored vinyls and picture discs of our releases and people love to collect cool stuff, especially if it's of their favorite bands. also, if you have the right audio equipment, any audiophile will tell you that the best sound quality comes from vinyl records - not cd's. it seems that a lot of people today are buying the mp3s of an album for ease of listening, and the vinyl edition for the cool, larger artwork and collectibility - makes a lot of sense to me! i'll think we'll see the end of cds before the end of vinyl! vinyl is here to stay!

you can either go to our STORE and buy stuff there with paypal. or you can go to INTERPUNK and SMARTPUNK or our distributer STICKFIGURE.
