Phantoms Of The SS was formed to create avant-garde and surrealistic sound structures reminiscent of the 80s noise bands that started the genre.

The 2 forming members of Phantoms Of The SS: 1 Phantoms and 1 Other released their first 3 albums as part of a trilogy, each album a different colour, black, red and yellow. Each album representing an aspect of the human condition: Black (schwarz) representing the evil aspects of humanity, Red (rot) representing depression and desperation, and Yellow (gelb) representing hope. Phantoms have various other projects in the works for 2010, including some limited vinyl with Koi.
